James Eugene "Jim" Raynor is a central character in the *Starcraft* game franchise. He first appeared in the original *Starcraft* game in 1998.
Raynor began his career as a Marshal in the Terran Confederacy. Disillusioned by the corruption he witnessed, he later joined Arcturus Mengsk's revolutionary group, the Sons of Korhal. However, Mengsk's ruthless tactics, particularly his use of the Zerg against Confederate targets, led Raynor to desert with a small group of loyal followers.
Raynor then formed the Raynor Raiders, a rebel group dedicated to fighting against Mengsk's Dominion and protecting the innocent. He is characterized as a strong, morally upright leader, deeply committed to fighting for justice and freedom in the Koprulu Sector.
